Room Roles

Understand the different roles in PumpCord rooms and what permissions each role has.

Role Hierarchy

Rooms have three main roles, from highest to lowest authority:

1. Owner - Full control

2. Moderator - Help with moderation

3. Member - Regular participant

Owner

The room owner is the person who created the room.

Owner Permissions

• ✅ Delete any message in the room

• ✅ Ban/unban users from the room

• ✅ Assign moderators to help manage the room

• ✅ Create polls and giveaways

• ✅ Manage community funds

• ✅ Set room rules and guidelines

• ✅ Modify room settings (if available)

Owner Responsibilities

• Moderate the room to keep it friendly

• Enforce community guidelines

• Respond to issues and conflicts

• Manage moderators effectively

• Foster a positive community

Moderator

Moderators are assigned by the room owner to help manage the room.

Moderator Permissions

• ✅ Delete messages (inappropriate content)

• ✅ Warn users about rule violations

• ✅ Help enforce community guidelines

• ✅ Assist with room moderation

• ❌ Cannot ban users (owner only)

• ❌ Cannot assign other moderators

• ❌ Cannot modify room settings

Moderator Responsibilities

• Help moderate the room

• Report serious issues to the owner

• Guide discussions in a positive direction

• Support the community

Member

Members are regular users who have joined the room.

Member Permissions

• ✅ Send messages in the room

• ✅ Reply to messages

• ✅ React with emojis

• ✅ Mention other users

• ✅ Participate in polls

• ✅ Join giveaways

• ✅ Contribute to community funds

• ✅ Favorite the room

• ❌ Cannot delete messages (except their own)

• ❌ Cannot ban users

• ❌ Cannot moderate

Member Responsibilities

• Follow room rules and guidelines

• Be respectful to other members

• Contribute positively to discussions

• Report issues to owners/mods if needed

Becoming a Moderator

To become a moderator:

• The room owner must assign you

• There's no automatic promotion

• Contact the owner if you're interested

• Show you're active and helpful

Role Indicators

Roles are usually shown:

• Next to usernames in the member list

• In message headers (owner/mod badges)

• In the room info section
